KORA (sold) It is 105 cm. high, and 37 cm. wide. It proceeds from Mali, in west Africa. It is used in rituals and celebrations of all the African continent, together with the balafon, djembe, talking drum and other musical instruments. It is made with half a pumpkin covered with goat skin, that works as a resonance-box, and three sticks going through it. The two shorter sticks, are used to hold the instrument with both hands, and the third one, larger and in the middle, tautens the twenty ropes, which are separated from the pumpkin by a piece of wood. |

TALKING DRUM OR TAMANI It is 31 cm. high, and 16 cm. of diameter in the drumheads. It is carved on one piece of wood, hollowed out, cylindrical shaped, and narrower in the middle. On each extreme, there is a drumhead, made of goat skin. Both drumheads are linked with ropes. The talking drum is placed in the armpit to control the tone, that will be more or less high, according to the tension of the rope, and is played with one curved stick.
